Musik i Panicale

During Christmas the
medieval village is all
decorated and a big
Christmas tree is
placed in the middle of
the piazza where once the Frenchmen planted their
tree of liberty after their liberation of Panicale from the papal yoke.
During the year, there are operas, concerts and plays in Panica-
le´s theatre built almost 300 years ago.
But all Umbria is rich in activities. During Christmas
and the New Year, you will find artistic Nativity scenes almost

everywhere following the tradition started by St. Francis. In

Gubbio the biggest Christmas tree in the world has been created

on a mountain-side. In Orvieto there are winter jazz festivals, and

elsewhere there is music and concerts.
During other periods of the year, there are traditional or medieval

events happening everywhere. In Foligno you have a horse race

(palio); in Cittā della Pieve a whole street is decorated with flowers
representing paintings of famous artists, in summer there
is the major jazz festival in Perugia and much, much more.
